A few minutes of rigorous exercise may be as effective as several hours of running or biking.
The American College of Sports Medicine has published a list of 12 exercises that mimic the exercise impact of a long run and trip to the gym. The exercises include squats and planks. Experts say they need to be done at high intensity with short, 10 second breaks.
None of the exercises requires special equipment, just a wall or chair.
