  Fire Officials: brush fire in California Valley could burn up to 1000 acres

  CAL FIRE Officials are at the scene of a 20 to 35 acre brush fire in California Valley.

  Officials say the fire broke out near Highway 58 and Branch Mountain Road.

  They say the fire has the potential to burn 500 to 1000 acres.

  Six air tankers and three helicopters are on their way to help battle the fire.

  The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says the White Fire, which burned nearly 2,000 acres east of Lake Cachuma, is 100% contained.

  The fire started on Memorial Day along Paradise Road.

  Fire officials say crews at the scene are being demobilized, but those who remain will work on holding the fire line and conducting mop up.

  The cost of fighting the fire is estimated at $2,890,000.

  Small grass fire at shooting range in San Luis Obispo County

  A small vegetation fire broke out shortly before 3 this afternoon in San Luis Obispo County.

  The 15 acre fire started at the shooting range on Gilardi Road and Highway 1.

  Firefighters managed to contain it around 3:30PM.

  Santa Barbara County Fire officials say the White Fire, burning in the Los Padres National Forest north of Santa Barbara is now 90% contained. The US Forest Service expects to have full containment by Monday, June 3.

  White Fire 80 percent contained, 1,858 acres burned

  Santa Barbara County Fire Officials say the White Fire burning in southern Santa Barbara County is now 80 percent contained.

  The fire broke out Monday afternoon in the Los Padres National Forest and is burning on Paradise Road, six miles north of Santa Barbara.

  Prescribed burn planned near Camp Roberts Wednesday

  Smoke may be visible near Camp Roberts Wednesday.

  Camp Roberts Fire and Emergency Services is planning a prescribed burn in the area.

  Officials say around 4,000 acres will be burned, weather permitting, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  UPDATE: Highways 154 & 246 reopen after Olive Fire

  The California Highway Patrol says Highways 154 and 246 are back open in the Santa Ynez Valley.

  They were shut down as firefighters worked to put out a grass fire that broke out just before 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.

  The Olive Fire burned 170 acres.

  Santa Barbara County Fire officials say the forward progress of the fire has been stopped.

  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

  A small light grass fire has broken out in the Santa Ynez Valley this afternoon.

  The fire is at 10 acres at Highway 246 and Meadowvale Road.

  50 homes are threatened.

  Highway 246 at Edison is closed.

  Firefighters have 3 engines on the ground, 4 tankers, and 4 helicopters are in the air fighting the blaze.
