Lompoc High football coach Andrew Jones is a couple wins away from his third CIF championship in his third season in charge of the Braves. Morro Bay has been the most surprising football team on the Central Coast this season. After a 1-9 finish last year the Pirates are 8-3 after winning their first round playoff game against Inglewood. Tyler Baty will end his football career at Mission Prep with some impressive statistics but he'll also leave with an impressive record. The Big Sky Conference website put up a poll asking who the most dominant defensive player in the conference is this season. Cal Poly junior defensive tackle Sullivan Grosz received the most votes and he's putting up the numbers to back it up.

Practice is underway for the Cal Poly men's basketball team and for Morro Bay High graduate Dylan Royer that means his long career on the Central Coast is in its final season.

Cal Poly senior slotback Deonte Williams is one of the stars who has emerged during the Mustangs 4-0 start to the season. Williams is averaging 152 yards rushing per game which is the fifth best mark in the nation. He's scored seven touchdowns.

The Arroyo Grande high girls tennis team has been the class of the Pac 7 League the past two-plus years. The Eagles have been led by Sophie Whittle. The sophomore has been the team's #1 singles player the last two years. She is this week's Legend in the Making.

When Nipomo's Christina Jenne was getting picked on in Kindergarten her dad signed her up for a mixed martial arts class. Nine years later Jenne is known as the "Queen of Hearts" and preparing for a mixed martial arts national tournament.
