2 dead in crash near Pigeon Point Lighthouse

PESCADERO, Calif. (AP) - Two men are dead after their car flipped on Highway 1 near California's Pigeon Point Lighthouse.

The California Highway Patrol says the black Kia drifted onto the right shoulder of the highway Monday afternoon and the driver apparently overcorrected, causing the car to roll over. It landed on its roof.

The crash site is near the San Mateo County coastal community of Pescadero.

The San Francisco Chronicle says the driver, a 23-year-old Salinas man, and a passenger, a 24-year-old Santa Cruz man, died at the scene. Their names are being withheld.

Two other men in the car were taken to Stanford Hospital with minor injuries.
