It was a sell-out crowd of more than 500 for Saturday's Twilight on the Terrace at Hearst Castle event, but of course there's plenty of room to wander on the Enchanted Hill.
Twilight on the Terrace is a fundraiser for "Friends of Hearst Castle", an organization that bridges the big gap left between what the state supplies in funding for daily operations, and the upkeep and restoration needed at Hearst Castle. Saturday more than 25 food vendors paired delicacies with as many local wine vendors.
The Red Skunk band completed the atmosphere that made guests feel like they were visiting the castle in the heyday with fun dance music inspired on this night by the tunes of the 30's and 40's. Many of the guests came in vintage costume as well.
The next event is Holiday Feast at the Castle on December 7th. This is one of the major fundraisers for Friends, and is limited to 100 people. It is an intimate sit-down dinner in the room where William Randolf used to serve guest. The castle will be decked out for the holidays and it makes for a memory you'll never forget. The evening begins with a limousine coach to the hilltop, sparkling wine reception, followed by a five-course banquet and music to get you in the holiday spirit. For more information, click here.
