Santa Maria police arrested a total of 21 men during two undercover sting operations designed to crack down on prostitution in the city.
In both operations, held in November 2012 and this month, undercover female law enforcement officers posted as street-level prostitutes. According to police, the men were arrested for soliciting for prostitution.
The operations were held on North Broadway, South Broadway, and East Main Street, but exact locations are being withheld because officers may use them in the future.
Police organized the operations after residents shared their concerns about prostitution during a town hall meeting in October 2012.
