SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego County health officials say four more residents have died from the flu, bringing the total number there to six.
Spokesman Jose Alvarez said Tuesday that the number of illnesses in the region was also on the rise and it's not too late to get vaccinated.
State health department spokesman Corey Egel said there have been at least four other flu-related deaths in California this season.
The state doesn't track deaths in people over age 65 because they are more common and don't indicate influenza severity.
State officials warned last week that incidence of flu is on the rise, though California's numbers have been comparatively low so far this season.
