9 pets die in house fire; 1 dog survives

RESEDA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say nine cats and dogs have died in a house fire in Reseda.

The Los Angeles Times reports that six caged cats and three dogs died in the blaze Monday in the single-story home. More than 40 firefighters battled the blaze, which was reported around 5 p.m. It was put out in about 20 minutes.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Main says on the LAFD's Twitter account that one dog survived and was "doing well" after firefighters gave it oxygen.
