Taylor Cornejo set the tone for the Lompoc Braves in their 42-7 opening win in the CIF playoffs against St. Francis last Friday. The senior, who missed a few games with an injury, received the opening kickoff and returned it 90 yards for a touchdowns just 12 seconds into the game.
Cornejo followed his line of blockers and was essentially escorted by three or four teammates the entire way down the field. The 90 yard touchdown was recognized on Monday as the Friday Night Highlights Play of the Week.
Lompoc, winners of 31 in a row and the #1 seed in the Western Division, play at Culver City on Friday night in a second round game.
