KSBY has obtained the chilling 911 call from the neighbor of a Santa Maria man, shot and killed by police Sunday night.

The call came in after police say a woman was stabbed by her husband, then ran to her neighbor's house for help.

The neighbor called 911 and minutes later, the husband, Robert Guzman, was shot dead.

Police say Guzman charged at them with a knife and hedge clippers. After warning the man, police tried to use a bean bag gun to stop him.

But when that didn't work, officers said they were forced to shoot.

Guzman died at the scene, and Santa Maria Police Chief Ralph Martin said his officers acted appropriately.
In the recording, you can hear the women first contact police regarding the incident.
But, before police could arrive, the situation escalated.
