AG volleyball sweeps Templeton in battle of unbeatens

The Arroyo Grande High boys volleyball team swept Templeton 3-0 in a battle of unbeatens on Wednesday night.

The reigning Pac 7 League champions from Arroyo Grande improved to 7-0 overall this season after their 27-25, 25-20 and 25-19 victory. Templeton, which is ranked 8th this week in the CIF Division 4 Coaches Poll, fell to 8-1 on the season.

Chandler Mankins led AG with 9 kills, while Jack Empey tallied 35 assists and 6 aces. Sun David added 4 aces for the Eagles, while sophomore Keanu Morrison added 4 kills. Ian Fillerup led AG with 8 digs.

Ben Schaner led Templeton with 9 kills, while Henri Cherry, Tobey Isbell and Jordan Scully fired off 7 kills apiece. Eric Lahargou dished out 32 assists in the loss.

Arroyo Grande, which won its league opener last week against rival San Luis Obispo, plays at St. Joseph in a Pac 7 match on Thursday. Templeton returns to action on April 9 against Morro Bay in a LPL match.
