The Eagles soared ahead from the start and cruised to a 14-4 win over Claremont in the first round of the CIF Division 3 playoffs on Wednesday.
The Arroyo Grande girls water polo team improved to 24-7 on the season that already included a tenth-straight Pac 7 League title and 100th-straight league victory. Claremont saw its season end with a 4-5 mark.
Brooklyn VanderVeen scored the first goal of the game for AG, which built a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter. VanderVeen and Kelsey Docouto had 3 goals apiece to lead the 6th seeded Eagles. Marcela Radke, Alexis Elias and Isabella Manuele scored two each. Hannah Wadlow recorded 3 saves in goal for AG.
The Eagles play at 19-10 Mira Costa, the #3 seed, on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
The Los Padres League champion Cabrillo water polo team moved on to the Division 5 quarterfinals. The Conquistadores beat visiting Burroughs out of Burbank 7-2 to move on. They host #2 Poly out of Riverside on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
Atascadero lost 23-5 at top ranked Harvard-Westlake. Righetti lost 12-5 at Upland. The Warriors finished the season 17-12. Paso Robles fell 14-5 at Los Osos.
