Arson Investigators called in to determine cause of suspicious fire

San Luis Obispo City Fire officials are investigating the cause of a suspicious fire that scorched several palm trees near an apartment complex.

It happened in the 1100 block of Foothill Boulevard at 2:48 a.m. Sunday. When officials arrived at the scene, they found five palm trees on fire. They say the flames were threatening a nearby apartment complex.

According to reports, the fire did scorch the side of the complex, but firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire and avoid further damage.

25 people were needed to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials say it is a suspicious incident, and they've declared it a crime scene. Now, they're working with Arson Investigators to determine what happened.
