Ball, Auerbach lead Eagles to 19-8 win over Hounds to keep title hopes alive

Garrett Ball hit a 2-run home run and hit a bases-clearing double to lead the Arroyo Grande baseball team to a 19-8 win over Atascadero in a Pac 7 League game on Tuesday. The Eagles improved to 11-3-2 in league and kept their hopes alive of sharing the league crown with idle Righetti. The Warriors finished Pac 7 play 14-4 and are guaranteed at least a share of their first title since 2007.

Arroyo Grande must win Wednesday's game at Atascadero and Friday's finale at home to share the crown.

Ball hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first to give AG a 3-2 lead. AJ Cipolla and Tyler Auerbach also crushed home runs for the Eagles.

Ball finished with 6 RBI, Auerbach had 3, while Chris Davidson, Zack Brown and Casey Muth had 2 RBI each.

The Eagles scored 7 in the first, 4 in the second and 5 in the fourth. They finished with 17 hits to the Greyhounds' 10.

Atascadero took the early 2-0 lead on a 2-run home run in the first from Corbin Meikle. Kelton Torres added 2 RBI for the Hounds.
