Blues win to advance to Rawlings Cup championship game

The fourth ranked San Luis Obispo Blues improved to 3-0 at the Rawlings Cup Tournament with an 11-2 win over Menlo Park on Saturday.

The Blues got on the board in the second inning with an inside the park home run by Cody Jones. A five-run third inning put the Blues up 6-0. The scoring in the third started when Blake Allemand knocked in a run with a double. Allemand then scored on a single by Michael Pritchard. Allemand was 2 for 5, Aaron Attaway was 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBI for the Blues. Pritchard was 2 for 5 with a triple and an RBI, Kyle Johnson was 3 for 4.

Jordan Smith earned the win by pitching six innings for the Blues. Smith gave up one earned run on three hits. Two Blues relievers combined for three shut-out innings.

The Blues won the Northern Bracket of the Rawlings Cup held at Sinsheimer Park in San Luis Obispo. They will play Southern Bracket champion, Santa Barbara in the championship game on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Santa Barbara. The Foresters went 3-0 in the Southern Bracket played at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium in Santa Barbara. The winner of Sunday's game earns an automatic bid to the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kansas.

The Blues are now 29-8 overall.
