SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Officials say they've recovered a body in the San Francisco Bay while searching for a sailor whose boat sank near the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge.
U.S. Coast Guard Spokesman Sean Kelly says it's too soon to say if the body belongs to a missing sailor whose boat crashed on the rocks early Monday and sank.
Kelly tells the Contra Costa Times that searchers found the body on Tuesday morning in the water near Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay.
The search began at 4:15 a.m. on Monday when the Coast Guard received a distress signal from a 30-foot sailboat named the Alma.
Officials say the Alma set out Sunday from Grand St. Marina in Alameda with plans of sailing to Hawaii.
