WASHINGTON (AP) - After facing a firestorm of criticism, House Speaker John Boehner has scheduled a vote for Friday for a portion of disaster aid for victims of Superstorm Sandy.
Friday's vote will be on $9 billion for the national flood insurance program.
A second vote will held Jan. 15 on the remaining $51 billion in the package. Boehner promised the votes after meeting Wednesday with angry Northeast lawmakers.
