Junior Chad Brodhead scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Cabrillo High boys basketball team by Morro Bay 78-57 on Thursday in a Los Padres League game between last year's co-league champions.
Cabrillo improved to 1-0 in league and 5-5 overal, while the Pirates dropped to 1-1 in LPAL action and 5-6 for the season.
Michael Woodard, a senior guard, added 19 points for the Conquistadores.
Luke Munds led Morro Bay with 21 points. The Pirates trailed 47-30 at halftime and never recovered.
The Morro Bay girls routed Cabrillo on the road 66-18. The Pirates are now 8-3 overall and 2-0 in LPL action. They are the two-time defending league champions.
Hannah Gilbert led the Pirates with 18 points, Caitlyn Cowardin poured in 13 points, while Jerrica Crosby added 10 rebounds for Morro Bay.
