SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Cal Poly women's basketball team dominated Nevada Thursday night 82-57, largely in part because of the night of junior Ariana Elegado.
Elegado scored a game-high 24 points for the Mustangs. The shooting guard shot 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, and 9-of-14 from the field. She also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a block en route to a blowout win which included a 37-9 run by the Mustangs after the Wolfpack started the game up 8-0.
The Mustangs didn't let off after halftime, scoring 38 points in the second half and holding the Wolfpack to 26 percent (20-for-77) shooting from the field for the game.
Senior center Molly Schlemer added 15 points and 9 rebounds on 7-of-14 shooting for the night. She is now averaging 17 points and 12 rebounds per game this season.
The win puts the Mustangs at (2-3) for the season going into their matchup at Saint Mary's this Saturday. The action continues at 1 p.m. at McKeon Pavilion.
