Cal Poly dominates second half in win over CS Northridge

Cal Poly was down 37-32 at the half against Cal State Northridge on Saturday night. The Matadors outrebounded the Mustangs, 18-17 in the first 20 minutes. Cal Poly turned it on in front of 2.464 fans at the Mott Athletics Center in the second half. The Mustangs won the rebounding battle by 13 in the second half and pulled away for a 75-64 win.

Junior forward Chris Eversley led the team in points, rebounds and energy. Eversley scored 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, both game highs. "The only thing that gets us going is our energy. Whether it's here or on the road. So I feel as though myself and some of the other guys. If we can be high energy guys the rest of the guys feed off that and then just go out and have fun" said Eversley who recorded his sixth double-double of the season. Eversley was 11-for-19 shooting from the floor and a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line.

Freshman post Brian Bennett added 17 points for the Mustangs while Drake U'u and Joel Awich chipped in 8 points.

The Mustangs shot 46 percent from the field but made just 3-15 (20%) from three point range. The Matadors made 40 percent of their shots.

The Mustangs improve to 9-9 overall, 5-3 in the Big West. They are all alone in third place in the conference behind Long Beach State (7-1) and Pacific (6-2).
