Cal Poly junior Molly Schlemer earns her first career All-American honor. The Righetti High graduate was named an Honorable Mention Mid-Major All-American by women's basketball website Full Court Press.
The website's All-Americans team focused on honoring players from outside the major conferences, who are often overlooked.
The 6-5 Schlemer was Cal Poly's leading scorer at 13.3 points per game. She ranked second with 7 rebounds per contest. Molly earned Big West Conference Player of the Year and Big West Tournament MVP.
Schlemer was a dominant force in the middle for the Mustangs, who finished 21-11 and tied a program record for most wins in a single season. Cal Poly captured its first-ever Big West Tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth. Cal Poly fell 85-55 to 8th ranked Penn State in the first round of the tournament. Schlemer scored a game-high 24 points in the loss to the Lady Lions.
