Cal Poly senior slotback Deonte Williams will line up against some of the best college football has to offer on Friday night. He will play in the 2013 Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game in Tuscon, Arizona. Kickoff is set for 6pm PST.
The game features more than 100 seniors, most are from the Football Bowl Subdivision level.
Williams is one of three Big Sky Conference players included in the initial list of 64 players. He is the eleventh Mustang in the last eleven years invited to play in a postseason All-Star game. Williams will play on the team guided by former Hawaii, Arizona and San Jose State head coach Dick Tomey.
The All-American slotback rushed for 1,506 yards and 12 touchdowns this fall. He led Cal Poly to a 9-3 record and a share of the Big Sky Conference title. Williams surpassed the 100 yard mark in a record ten games this season. He also set a program record by rushing for 100 yards or more in six-straight games.
Williams became the 15th Mustang to crack the 1,000 yard mark in a single season. He ranks #2 all-time in program history in single season rushing yards.
Deonte finished 16th in the voting for the Walter Payton Award, which is given to the most outstanding player in the FCS.
Last year, Morro Bay High graduate and San Diego State stasr Jerome Long played in the inaugural Casino Del Sol All-Star Game.
