Career game lands Morro Bay's Viles FNH Player of the Week 10 honors

Morro Bay High running back Derek Viles earns the Friday Night Highlights Player of the Week 10 award.

The 5-6 junior rushed for a season-high 246 yards on 20 carries and scored 2 touchdowns in the Pirates' big 48-24 win over rival Templeton last Friday. He scored a 63 yard run on the second play from scrimmage to give Morro Bay the lead for good 7-0.

The win helped Morro Bay secure sole possession of second place in the Los
Padres League and the league's #2 seed for CIF.

Viles leads the team with 1,202 rushing yards and 15 TD this season.

Nipomo quarterback Luke Shurtleff, St. Joseph running back Scotty Cusack and Arroyo Grande quarterback Matt Willkomm were this week's runners-up.

Week 8 - Grant Alton, Arroyo Grande - 17 Tackles, 2 interceptions and 2 sacks, plus 1 catch on offense
Week 9 - Scotty Cusack, St. Joseph - 240 total yards of offense and 5 Tds in St. Joseph's 49-16 win over Pioneer Valley to clinch share of Pac 7 League title
Week 10 - Derek Viles, Morro Bay - 246 yards on 25 carries and 2 touchdowns in Morro Bay's 48-24 win over Templeton to claim second place in LPL
