April is child abuse prevention month, and one organization in Santa Barbara County is recognizing it by looking for volunteers.
Court appointed special advocates, better known as CASA, hopes to find 30 advocates in just 30 days for 30 local children.
They had an information session Tuesday in Santa Maria to try to recruit people.
"Tonight, we're just giving them general information about CASA, the work that we do, what an advocate does, what the role is and what the requirements are," said CASA volunteer manager Crystal Moreno.
CASA says more than 500,000 California kids are reported abused each year, and at least one child dies every day as a result.
The next information session is on April 15th in Lompoc.
