A woman living near the Foothills caught a bear on tape trying to get a bird feeder she left out on her porch that night.
She didn't want to talk on camera because she was embarrassed for leaving it out, but she did want to share the video so others know how real the danger is.
New Mexico Game and Fish has spotted a few bears already this year, several specifically along Tramway. Game and Fish officials say they've gotten a lot of calls about bears in that area and the East Mountains.
"They're coming off the mountain, hitting these homes," Ross Morgan of Game and Fish said.
"They're looking for food."
But there's one thing in particular people may be doing that lures bears back time after time.
"These bears have found out when trash day is," Morgan said. "People are putting them out the day before and these bears are coming through and actually hitting these trash cans."
Game and Fish says to take extra precautions during this time of drought and wildfire.
