The day after President Barack Obama called for immigration reform during his second inaugural address in Washington, D.C., a Central Coast group announced its push for reform in 2013.

Hazel Putney, a leader of PUEBLO, was one of the speakers at a news conference at Santa Maria City Hall Tuesday afternoon.

"We've seen many children left without their mothers and fathers here in our own community and across the nation. This is something that is a traumatizing experience for kids. It damages their health and education," said Putney.

Representatives of several community, labor and faith groups took part in the gathering to push for immigration reform. They plan to work under an umbrella group called "CAUSE" in their campaign for change.
