Young athletes who compete in elite sports are more likely to show signs of burnout.
A British study of boys playing professional club soccer found one in four had experienced symptoms of burnout.

The most common symptoms of burnout were physical and emotional exhaustion, but experts say perfectionism can lead to low self esteem as well as psychological and interpersonal problems.
