Arroyo Grande leaders voted on Tuesday night to move forward with a plan to sell some city property in order to help pay for a new police building.
The aging police headquarters are in need of repair. Bond measures that would have funded a new building have been rejected by voters in recent years.
The city council approved starting the process to sell city properties on Old Ranch Road and appointing city council representative Caren Ray to a committee to help pick a realtor to list the properties for sale.
The city hopes to make as much as $640,000 from the sale of three residential lots it owns on West Branch Street and Old Ranch Road.
