The city of Atascadero is looking for volunteers and team leaders for the annual Atascadero Creek and Salinas River Cleanup Day this Saturday, September 21st.
The waterways are the primary source of recharge for groundwater aquifers, and keeping them healthy and free of pollution is an important part of protecting Atascadero's water supply.
Team Leaders will be in charge of a group of volunteers assigned to a specific clean-up section and it is helpful if leaders have trucks to haul the debris removed from the creeks, and deliver to the disposal/recycling area at City Hall.
If you are interested in becoming a Creek and River Clean-up Team Leader, please contact the City of Atascadero Public Works Department @ 470-3146.
The Creek Clean Up starts at 9:00 a.m. and goes until about noon. Volunteers will meet at the City Hall Annex Parking lot on Capistrano. (South side of the Lewis Avenue bridge) Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and work begins at 9:00 a.m. Remember to bring gloves, sturdy shoes, and a small backpack to keep your water in. Don't forget to bring your family and friends too.
Refreshments, snacks and lunch will also be provided after the clean-up. For additional event information call The City of Atascadero Public Works Department @ 470-3148.
