City of San Luis Obispo observes Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and to raise awareness, the San Luis Obispo Child Abuse prevention Council hosted its annual Children's Day in the Plaza. Local families were invited to Mission Plaza for the free event. More than 80 vendors came out for the festivities. Guests could enjoy educational activities, music, games, giveaways, food, and crafts. "I got toothpaste and a tooth brush and some camping stuff," said Hayden, who went to the event. "We know that when we care for our children and give them opportunities to grow in their own unique ways, they will grow to be the adults that we want them to be. We want them to care about their community. We want them to care about the families that they live in," said Lisa Fraser, the Executive Director of the Child Abuse Prevention Council. The City of San Luis Obispo helped put on the event. This is the 35th year the city has observed Child Abuse Prevention Month.
