Community organizes fundraisers for teacher with rare cancer

A local mother of three is fighting for her life and her friends and family are asking the community for help.

Kambria Wesch-Doherty gave birth to her third child just three months ago.

At that time, doctors discovered she has Neuroendocrine Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer.

While Kambria prepares for chemotherapy and radiation, community members are planning fundraisers.

The first will be on February 9th at Cambria Pines Lodge and the second will be on the February 23rd at Sculpterra Winery in Paso Robles.

"Paso is just a really tight-knit group of people, and there's been a lot of support from everybody for my sister and my family which is, it's humbling for sure," said Garrett Wesch, Kambria's brother. "It's really cool. It's emotional."

In addition to being a mom, Kambria is also a teacher at Santa Lucia Middle School in Cambria.
