Construction on a stretch of California Boulevard in San Luis Obispo began Friday, and officials say drivers should expect some delays.
Lanes will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. On the stretch between Foothill Boulevard and Phillips Lane.
Construction continues through Tuesday. Workers are removing and replacing 3.5 inches of pavement.
"It was in pretty poor condition, so I'm pretty sure, when we're done, they'll have a better ride and traffic will move a little smoother than it used to," said Mark Williams, an engineer from San Luis Obispo.
The project is paid for by funds from Measure Y. That was the half cent sales tax that passed back in 2006.
