Santa Barbara County leaders will hear from various department heads at today's Board of Supervisors meeting as they present a worst-case scenario for budget cuts.
The county is facing a $40 million budget deficit and has asked department leaders to cut a combined $52 million. That's equal to 392 full time employees, or 10 percent of all county workers. Public safety could be hit the hardest, but many options remain. No decisions have been made. County leaders must balance the 2010-2011 budget by June.
