Crews contain fire in bedroom at student housing complex

Firefighters were called out to Stenner Glen in San Luis Obispo Sunday afternoon after reports came in that one of the buildings was on fire.

Officials with the San Luis Obispo City Fire Department say they responded shortly after 12 p.m. to unit 7 at the student housing complex on Foothill Boulevard.

They say they found a mattress burning inside a bedroom, and they were able to contain the flames to that room.

No one was in the room when they arrived, which they say does have light smoke damage.

They say the building is a three-story apartment complex and that there are six bedrooms per common area.

The fire happened in one of the bedrooms, and officials say students living in the nearby bedrooms are being moved to other housing for the time being.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
