Cuesta jazz faculty jam to help students pay for school

If you're a jazz fan... you won't want to miss a great jam session tonight.
The 9th annual Cuesta College Faculty Jazz Ensemble concert is performing on campus.
Local singers, Inga Swearingen and John Knutson, will join faculty instrumentalists for a night of great music from a host of composers including Wayne Shorter and Cole Porter.
Tickets are just $12 for the general public, $7 for students and the proceeds support student scholarships for the Cuesta music program.
"Tuition at community college is pretty cheap, but a single book costs 100-150 bucks, rent, gas, everything's so much for the students these days," Knutson explains. "We want to lure in the most talented students we can from wherever we can and make sure that cost isn't an issue prohibiting them from going to school, of course."
The concert begins tonight at 7:30 at the CPAC on the Cuesta College campus, off Highway 1.
