Cuzick, Fryckman lead Titans to 2-1 win over Paso Robles

Courtney Cuzick outdueled Jenna Rogers as the Nipomo softball team edged Paso Robles 2-1 in a non-league game on Tuesday. The Titans improved to 3-0, while the Bearcats fell to 3-2.

The Titans scored first in the fourth inning on a ground ball that allowed Cuzick to score from third base on a throw to second base. Candace Fryckman added a run-scoring double in the sixth inning with what proved to be the difference maker.

The Bearcats scored an unearned run in the seventh inning, but Cuzick shut the door for the win.

Cuzick allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in 7 solid innings. The Penn recruit struck out 9 Bearcats.

The Titans collected 7 hits led by 2 each from Fryckman and Ashley Ruiz.
