Diabetes drug shows promise for some cancer patients

A drug to treat diabetes may help patients with ovarian cancer.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic looked at the survival rates of ovarian cancer patients, some of whom were taking the diabetes drug Metformin.

67% of those on the diabetes drug were alive 5 years later, compared with 47% of those not on the drug.

This does not prove cause and effect, though doctors say it's worth further study.
