A new study adds to the body of evidence linking Type 2 Diabetes to Dementia.
Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco studied nearly 800 older adults with diabetes for 12 years.
Those who had periods of low blood glucose levels had a two-fold increased risk for developing dementia, compared with those who did not have a hypoglycemic event.
Cognitive impairment in turn can affect how patients manage their Type 2 Diabetes, which can lead to more periods of low blood glucose.
