DJ Fenner puts on a show, leads Seattle Prep to title game at Classic

D.J. Fenner showed folks on the Central Coast why he's considered the top ranked prep players in the state of Washington. Friday night, the 6-6 guard, who's committed to the University of Nevada, scored 12 of his game-high 31 points in the fourth quarter to lead Seattle Prep to a 44-41 come-from-behind win over Philadelphia powerhouse Imhotep in the National Division semifinals at the Mission Prep Christmas Classic.

Seattle Prep advances to take on Bishop Montgomery for the National Division title at 8:30 pm Saturday.

Fenner scored the first ten points of the game for Seattle, which led 13-4 after the first quarter. Imhotep made it a 25-18 game at the half. However, the Philadelphia-based team outscored Seattle Prep 13-3 in the third quarter to take a 31-28 lead. That's when Fenner took over as Seattle, the #2 ranked team in Washington, outscored Imhotep 16-10 in the final eight minutes.

Imhotep star Brandon Austin scored 13 points to lead his squad. The 6-7 Austin has committed to Providence.

This is Imhotep Charter's first trip to the Christmas Classic. The Panthers are the two-time defending PIAA Class AA Division champions.
