Dogs all dressed up for Halloween visited patients at three local hospitals on Tuesday.
The dogs are part of the Pet Therapy program at Marian Regional Medical Center, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, and French Hospital.
"A lot of people have pets at home that they miss, so being able to bring in pets that are calm and love to be petted, it just really helps the patients," said Judy Hoffman, Chairperson of the Pet Therapy Committee.
Hospital officials say studies have shown that the presence of animals has a positive effect on healing and reduces patients' feelings of stress and anxiety.
