Eagle girls remain in a league of their own, streak nears 100

The Arroyo Grande High girls water polo continues its quest this week for its tenth-straight Pac 7 League title. The Eagles are the fifth ranked Division three team this week in the CIF-Southern Section coaches poll.

The Eagles will try to make it 92-straight league wins Tuesday afternoon at Atascadero High.

The winning streak is something the team is well aware of especially now that its getting close to triple digits.

"I think the pressure gets bigger and bigger. This year is a big one because we can get to that one hundred mark," said head coach Steven Allen, who's led the boys and girls programs for several years.

"The legacy's really huge. It's a lot of pressure. We definitely feel it coming into my senior year I know I feel a lot of pressure but I think we can do great things this season. I think we can definitely clinch another league title," said senior Morgan Clark.

Arroyo Grande hasn't lost a league game since 2003.

Righetti, which has league title aspirations this season, is ranked 10th in Division 3.
