Early-morning fight lands one man behind bars, another in hospital

One person is behind bars and another in the hospital after two people got in a fight in San Luis Obispo early Monday morning.

It happened a little before 1:30 a.m. at Los Osos Valley Road and Calle Joaquin.

Officials with the San Luis Obispo Police Department say Gregory Gonoch, 27, from Arizona was arguing with another man at ampm before moving across the street.

Officials say when they arrived, the 28-year-old victim from San Luis Obispo was unconscious in the street.

He was taken to the hospital with major facial trauma.

Gonoch was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem and taken to the hospital for hand injuries.

Police say the men met each other Sunday evening through a mutual friend.

The incident is under investigation.
