Residents living within the Eucalyptus Hill section of Santa Barbara will be receiving a phone call from the county this weekend, as a test of the Reverse 911 system.

People can expect to receive the phone call this Saturday between 10:00a.m. and 12:00p.m. The test is voluntary and, in the event of a real emergency, will help distribute information to residents. The test will also provide the Sheriff's Department with information on the system's effectiveness.

The system sends a recorded message through phone lines to homes and businesses affected in emergency situations. Citizens can also voluntarily register their cell phones and e-mail addresses as a part of the system. To register to be a part of the Reverse 911 system, click here.
