Evacuation orders lifted for residents near fire burning above Montecito

Evacuation orders have been lifted for people for the Cold Fire that is burning at the top of Cold Springs Trail in Montecito.

The fire broke out just after 11:55 Tuesday morning. Santa Barbara County Fire Department assisted the US Forestry Service, Montecito Fire Department, Santa Barbara Fire Department, Vandenberg Fire Department, CAL FIRE Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department, Santa Barbara Police Department and California Highway Patrol.

The vegetation fire broke out in a heavy brush near power lines. Fire officials say the steep terrain made it difficult for fire crews to fight the fire.

The fire only burned 3 acres as a result to effective water drops and retardant from air tankers. Crews are hiking into the fire to maintain control of the fire.

There were mandatory evacuations north of Mountain Dr., west of San Ysidro Rd. and West of Hot Springs Rd.

There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
