In a new study, 56 people went on an Outward Bound expedition for at least four days, leaving their smartphones and laptops at home.
Roughly half the group took a creativity test before the trip. The rest took the same test on the fourth day of the trip.
Researchers at the University of Utah found those taking the test after being outside for four days performed better.
They say the area of the brain involved in decision making, creativity, and problem solving gets cluttered by constant interaction with technology.
