Experts release guidelines aimed at reducing high C-Section rate in U.S.

Doctors should be more patient when it comes to performing C-sections.

Leading pregnancy specialists released new guidelines aimed at reducing the high C-section rate in the United States.

They recommend that doctors don't order a C-Section just because of prolonged labor. In fact, experts now believe active labor doesn't start until the cervix is six centimeters dilated, instead of four.

Women should push for at least two hours if they've delivered before and three hours if it is their first baby.
