Family, friends raise money for funeral of Santa Maria teen killed while crossing the street

The family of a 15-year-old Santa Maria girl killed over the weekend is raising money for her funeral.

Leticia Hernandez's family and friends were at the corner of West Newlove and South Thornburg in Santa Maria taking donations Tuesday night.

She was killed while walking in an un-marked crosswalk Saturday night.

Leticia's cousin, Daniel Aguilar-Sanches, says, "She's like that person that i'll go to to get inspired if you're down. She's always there to cheer you up. She's like really fun to hang out with. She's funny. She'll crack jokes on you. You can pick on her and she'll pick you back, and then she's someone you'll miss a lot."

Daniel says Leticia boxed at Minami Community Center in Santa Maria and also volunteered there to help other boxers.
