FDA is investigating an ingredient in anti-bacterial products

The Food and Drug Administration is reviewing the safety of an ingredient in most anti-bacterial soaps and body washes.

Recent studies of Triclosan suggests it might increase the risk for infertility and early puberty. Triclosan is found in 75% of antibacterial products.

Some experts think the chemical may be harmful and ineffective. The ingredient has been under review by the FDA for nearly 40 years, but the agency says it will finalize its review sometime this year.
