Fire destroys Lompoc apartment

Seven people are out of their home tonight, after a fire destroyed their Lompoc apartment.

Lompoc fire officials say the fire started around noon Monday at single-story apartment complex on the 300 block of North K Street.

No one was hurt, but the apartment is now unlivable. The units on either side of that apartment sustained some smoke damage, but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading.

Lompoc fire officials estimate the fire caused about $25,000 in damage. They say the cause was accidental.

The Red Cross is assisting the people who were displaced.
