The city of Santa Maria will light their first community Christmas tree Friday night, in front of City Hall.
Rain or shine, guests are invited to gather around the tree from 5 until 7:30 and take part in the holiday festivities. Tents will be put up for people to gather under.
The city purchased the 24-foot Christmas tree with the help of donations.
The officials lighting of the tree will happen around 6:10 pm.
Jason Melena Flores, an eight-year old survivor of neurofibromatosis will flip the Christmas tree light switch.
